An Action Research to Develop a Model of Promoting Knowledge and Behavioral Adjustment of Hypertensive Patients

OBJECTIVES: This research aimed to develop a model of promoting knowledge and behavioral adjustment hypertensive patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS: action was based on the concept Kemmis Mc Taggart (1988). The sample 34 people consisted 24 patients 10 community health volunteers. instruments were divided into following two parts: 1) general information questionnaire for older adults; 2) qualitative data collection instrument consisting semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, observations. study conducted between 30 November 2021-10 March 2022. Quantitative statistically analyzed by using frequency, percentage, mean standard deviation. Qualitative analysis used thematic analysis. RESULTS: A behavior developed through participation. Both cycles found that there 4 development activities: educating patients; education about modification; 3) providing models transfer knowledge; 4) exchanging learning materials. Knowledge increased considerably, averaging from 14.87 ± 5.21 17.37 4.65 (t = -2.882, p 0.010, 95%CI -4.368 -0.685). Hypertension complications prevention high score, with diet control 87.50 %, exercise at 91.70%. After second round, hypertension satisfied adjustment, an higher number percentage after developing 18 (75.00%) 21 (87.50%). model, having completed volunteers classified satisfaction showed 8 (80.00%) (100%). CONCLUSION: Nurses healthcare workers should participation in encouraging engage self-care.
